Listen closely. You’re going to have to come closer than that. Closer … Shhh, can you do me a favour and keep a secret? Don’t tell anyone but I am about to reveal how pro-bloggers never run out of writing ideas!. How they are constantly overflowing with fresh ideas and stay on the cutting edge.

Okay, enough of the theatrics (hey, I was bored …) – time to get straight to the point.. My top tip for keeping a constant flow of writing ideas for your persuasive essay to is to use Google News and Blogs.

For this exercise, head on over to google.com. Across the top left hand side of the page you will see a menu. I can see Web, Images, Maps, News, Video, Gmail and More. Click on News.

If you have never been here before, this is Google’s news page. This page will be full of news headlines and is fully customizable. If you are looking for general writing ideas, this page is packed full of goodies. But for this exercise I am going to assume you have a rough idea on what you want to write about. My topic will be solar power.

Enter your chosen topic into the Google search bar and hit Search News.

The page that loads will now have a series of news articles from around the world that relate to your phrase. By default, the articles are sorted by relevance. You can sort by date using the choices at the top right of the page.

Scroll down the results. Do you see anything interesting for your research? In my results, the first 4 are –

Solar panels – beware of counterfeits (Energy Matters – Australia)
LG announces solar powered mobile (Techradar – UK)
Bharat hot on solar cookers, new energy (Times of India – India)
Dow at work on solar power shingles (Toronto Star – Canada)

It would not take you long to amass several articles that will give you some great ideas.

Another hot source of writing ideas on this page is the Google Blog search. In the left hand side menu you will find the menu heading Blogs. Click on this.

The Blog search is similar to the News search, but this shows recent blog entries from the web. I can see blog entries on DIY solar and cutting coal use with solar power. News will give you some good factual information while blogs can be more opinionated. Both are great places to start your search.

Warning – News feeds and blogs are great places to do research. Don’t copy what you find here as your own work. Duplicate content filters will spot that in the blink of an eye. What you can do is use the research as guidance. What is your opinion on what you have read? Write about that instead.

How do you use a quote? That’s the easy part. Pick a line from below you like. Perhaps it has made you think. Perhaps it made you laugh. Now what do you have to write about. Can you make a connection between the two? Let’s take a quote from John Mendoza – “You know you’re getting old when you can pinch an inch on your forehead”. There is world of scope just from these 14 words. How about society’s attitude to beauty as we age? Or the physical effects of ageing? What else can you think of? Here are a few quotes to give you some inspiration.

How about some funny life quotes -

“My husband and I didn’t sign a pre-nuptial agreement. We signed a mutual suicide pact.” Roseanne Barr

“In my house I’m the boss, my wife is just the decision maker.” Woody Allen

“In many instances, marriage vows would be more accurate if the phrase were changed to ‘Until debt do us part’. Sam Ewing

According to Google, people just like you searched for “writing ideas” an incredible 74000 times world wide last month. That’s a staggering number and means they ended up at Google because they have absolutely no idea what to write about. Stuck for ideas? Come on, it’s not that hard. I am about to share with you my best tip for finding socially interesting topics to write about that will save you hours of agony.

Open your browser and head over to www.digg.com Now, if you are under 30 and know how to turn a computer on, then there is a good chance you don’t need me to explain what social bookmarking is. So just slip on the ipod headphones for a minute while I give a short and simple definition for the rest of my readers.

For everyone else, www.digg.com is what we call a social bookmarking site. Have you ever found a site that interests you and added it to your favorites in Internet Explorer?* It makes it easy to come back to because you like the site.

Well, the internet is a global community. If you like the site, then do you think other people might want to know about it too? Instead of adding it to your favorites on your computer, you can do it on a social bookmarking site so other people can see it. If they agree and like it too, they can vote on the article. Go to www.digg.com and you can see the most popular stories at the moment.

Just about any article on the front page is a good place to start your search for writing ideas. Scroll down and see what interests you. At the time of writing, I can see –

Samsung launches solar-powered phone.
Man gets 20 weeks in jail for whistling.
Casinos on alert for card counters using iPhones
NASA’s 10 greatest achievements

If you are free to write about anything, then it will only take a few seconds for some great ideas. If you have a range of topics to keep to, use the search function at the top of the page.

Want some extra credit? Remember it is the controversial topics that get attention. Scroll down the front page articles. What has the most comments? If an article has 800 diggs (votes) and 30 comments, then it may be a little conservative. If it has 600 diggs and 400 comments, then that is a hot topic to write about.

* Now don’t send me hate mail because I mentioned Internet Explorer instead of Firefox, Flock etc etc. If someone does not know what social bookmarking is, then I would bet 99% of the time they are using IE.

Ask any creativity expert and he will tell you “it helps to get a lot of ideas, more ideas you get, the better chance of hitting at a fresh solution.” But the question that baffles everyone is: how?

Because in reality, forget a lot of ideas, people don’t even get a few ideas to start with. Here are some tips to help you get ideas quickly:

Empty your mind:

Write everything that comes to your mind about that subject.

These may not be ideas, just your thoughts and preconceived notions about the situation. Write everything. Once these ideas are out you can think of some fresh ones.

Keywords:

Write all the key words associated with your opportunity at hand. These Keywords will become your gateways to ideas.

Phrase these keywords differently and see what happens. For example in this article instead of “keywords” I can say “words which are important to understand the concept” or the phrase “words that unlock the meaning” of a situation.

Now these phrases will give you cues to get more ideas.

Associations:

Start free-wheeling. Record all the associations that come to your mind about the opportunity and start creating ideas on those associations.

Write down all the jokes, all the anecdotes, all the lyrics that this situation reminds you.

Does it remind you of a movie scene? Write it down. It reminds you of a picnic where some funny thing happened? Record it.

Don’t judge. Play with whatever your brain gives you.

For example “Mother” will take you to “love”

Mother > love > Now love can lead to “romance” or “security” or ‘war” depending on your life experiences, context of the situation and mental state at the moment.

Keep writing as many ideas you can capture.

Write a book:

Pretend as if you are an expert author on the subject you want ideas for. Now think of possible book titles about the situation. Also add the subtitles to get a fresh angle.

For example:

How to think of a truckful of ideas under tight deadlines?

Idea mining: Where to dig to get good ideas.

Instant ideas: Whenever you want

Invite ideas: They are eager to come

The gang of Ideas: They never come alone

Now these titles will become a trigger for ideas.

All the ideas are a possible seed for the next idea. Like the book title above reads, Ideas have gangs, they never come alone!

Invite ideas:

Read a magazine or a newspaper and invite the headlines in your situation. See what will happen if you write your keywords in those headlines!

It will spark new combinations and many more ideas.

Do the same with shopping catalogues. See how a fashionable handbag can help you get the best of your opportunity.

Or a lipstick can help you create ideas?

For example I can say;

Try different shades of the idea you have generated. It will help you generate more ideas. What if I change the shades of verbs in my ideas?

Instead of, how to think of ideas quickly, what if I ask:

How to find ideas quickly? Or, how to cook ideas quickly?

What about, how to spice up your ideas instantly?

Build on ideas:

Write down all the ideas on a big sheet where the ideas can gang up together.

Now let them cross over from one gang to another.

New gangs will be created. Keep on recording the ideas.

Fill in the blanks:

On your idea sheet write numbers:

1:

2: . . .

60:

Human brain has a tendency to fill in the blanks. When there will be an expectation for ideas, it will provide.

Reward yourself:

Give yourself a good treat when you crack a good number of ideas. Reward yourself for number of ideas as well as good ideas.

Give yourself idea targets:

Creating ideas is a skill. You get better at it with practice.

So give increasing targets to yourself regularly. Achieving these targets will encourage and convince you, creating so many ideas is possible.

Thanks to Puneet for the article. Article Source.

How great would it be to walk by a book store and see your title sitting in the window and have it be the buzz on the street? There are very few people walking around who have not thought about writing their own book at one point or another, but it is often dismissed as they just don’t seem to be able to come up with what they think are good book writing ideas.

The first place you need to look when you are looking for book writing ideas is right in your own life. You can only write will about what you know so don’t think you are going to be able to write the next great cook book if you have never fired up your own stove.

As you are looking over your life, hobbies, passions and job experiences, you should put them all down on paper as they come to you. Don’t let anything slip by you, there is nothing to small or mundane to put down when you are in the creative process.

Once you have a list of possible topics, do a little research and see what people are interested in. For instance, if your hobby is building miniatures but you only find a couple of websites about it and they are not getting a lot of traffic, you may want to look at something different for the time being.

Ideas for writing a book are featured just about everywhere in our own lives. All you have to do is look a little deeper and find the parts of these experiences that are interesting and amusing. Remember, for every experience or job that you have had, there are plenty of other people that have experienced the same things. After all, what do you migrate towards in the book store? Probably a book that relates to something that you have experienced so you can lose yourself in the book. Just write it down and you will be surprised at what people find interesting.

At times when writing, ideas will need to be extracted from the inner parts of our brains. Due to the fact that they get cluttered with junk and other unnecessary stuff from our every day life. It is easily done by getting distracted and allowing them to take over. When this happens the information has to be obtained with as much effort as possible.

This slows us down having to dig deep into our minds to withdraw what we are looking for and trying to find. The hidden data is held up and will take a 3 step process to free it…

Step 1: Separate the usable prize thoughts from the unusable scattered brain thinking with no real meaning. Each time we look or feel something it sends thought patterns through our minds like a title wave. A decision has to be made what to do with it.

Step 2: Determine what will be kept to be used, saved, and trowed away in the garbage. Our minds is like a file system that needs to be maintained on a regular basis. How often it needs to be maintained is up to you. But, I recommend do not let things pile up, so daily is a good maintenance program.

Step 3: Select what will be exerted choosing carefully what to pull out. But, now it should be easier and make things more efficient. Seeing your productivity level excel above normal. Just because you took out the rummage.

All this is done by drawing forth from the research already previously done. To take the required steps the advance forward making things a lot better. It is not a simple process but needs to always be taken care of.

Article writing can be much easier and you can write many more articles when you use article writing templates. One of my favorite templates is the “How to Survive” article writing template. Read on to discover how to use this article writing template.

Remember the famous self-help book of several years ago “How to Survive the Loss of a Love?” I believe one of the reasons it was so popular was it met a need by giving the “how to.” You can do the same thing with your articles.

Here are a few title examples -

Title Examples:

How to Survive the Lose of a Love How to Survive Bankruptcy How to Survive a Stressful Day

How to Survive a Difficult Boss

Here’s the outline of the “How to Survive Template”

The Template

“How to Survive………………..”

Define what needs to be survived.

List your tips

Tip 1

Tip 2

Tip 3

Tip 4

Tip 5

What to do next

So let’s get started. Choose a topic from your niche, preferably something negative that happens often in the world of your ideal client.

Define what needs t o be survived. Agitate the problem a bit so your reader will know that you understand what they are struggling with. You can even tell a story about how you once struggled with the same thing. You can also give a case study example of someone you have helped with the same struggle.

That’s really all there is to it.

Bonus tip – You can also then take each of your tips and write an article about each tip.

I am a natural born writer, so writing has always come easy to me. But, when I had to start writing articles everyday for my blog, for my newsletter and for article submission – I quickly ran out of article topics.

Then one day as I was reviewing all of my articles, I realized that there was a structure and a formula behind each article I wrote. By recognizing these formulas I’m able to write an unlimited amount of articles – and write them in record time.

If you want to overcome writer’s block and start writing articles faster, then you want to model proven article writing formats. Here are 10 article templates to help you smash through writer’s block -

Myth Buster Article Template — With this template, you crush your prospects’ preconceived thoughts and notions about a subject. Take 3 myths people have about your industry. Explain to people why it’s a myth. And, then show them what can happen if they clear this myth from their mind.

Top 10 Article Template – Have you ever seen a Jay Leno, David Letterman or any other late night television show that doesn’t have a “Top 10″ segment? Well, neither have I! It’s because people love top 10 lists. So give readers and prospects what they want.

How-To Article Template – It’s no secret that “how-to” articles and blog posts are some of the most sought after, linked to and bookmarked content online. People want useful information and they’ll reward you by promoting it to others when you provide it. It’s also one of the easiest articles to write.

Step-by-Step Article Template – If you think writing a how-to article is easy especially if you’re using article templates, then you’ll think the step-by-step article template is a cinch. In how-to articles I start off with the problem or pain that my prospects are experiencing. Then I give them a solution and end with the results. In a step-by-step article, I like to sell the dream. I want to instantly connect with my prospects’ desires, wishes and needs. So, I explain the results up front that can happen if you follow my advice that I give in the article.

Quiz Article Template – Why do you think magazines publish quizzes all the time? Why do you think the quizzes you find on Facebook are so popular? It’s because people love taking quizzes, unless it’s a pop quiz in school. So, why not use a quiz format for your articles that will enable you to do a soft, pre-sell for your products and services. When readers answer “NO” to your questions, you’re implanting thoughts of “Maybe, we should be doing this.”

3 Mistakes Article Template – When you mention mistakes within your title and throughout your article, you will automatically grab attention. People will think in their minds, “Am I doing this right? I better find out!”

The Why Article Template – How-to articles are great. And, as I said before, it’s the most popular article template. But sometimes, when you give too much of the “HOW,” you give prospects no reason to go to your website for more information. So, why not write an article that focuses on the “WHY” and give prospects a reason to visit your website and join your list.

Differentiate Yourself Article Template – This template helped Article Marketing Experts make more than 10,000.00 in less than 2 months. I created an article entitled “How to Choose an Article Submission Service.” Within this article, I created 10 questions that prospects should ask. Now these questions were designed to show everything that my service includes that no one else offers. It educated prospects and at the same time, it pre-sold my article submission services.

Failure to Success Article Template – Did you ever notice how speakers (especially those who sell from the stage) would always tell you about their hardships? Why do speakers do this? Because we want you to connect with us. We want to show you that if we can achieve success, so can you. By opening up and revealing your failures or your scars, you add realness to your written words. People will look up to you and they will want your guidance.

What I Learned From Article Template — Through my years as the article marketing expert, I’ve learned that I can connect almost anything – no matter how unrelated it may seem – to various secrets that I teach my clients, subscribers and readers. For example, I’ve written articles such as “7 Article Marketing Lessons I Learned From Being a Martial Arts Champion,” 3 Lessons I Learned From the Mother of a Fearless PR LEADER,” and “5 Relationship Building Lessons I Learned From My Parents.”

These templates are guaranteed to help you write articles faster. In many cases, you’ll be able to write your articles in 30 minutes or less.

Article idea creation is one of the mind numbing acts that you can do as a writer. It can be a tenuous exercise to try and figure out which idea will prime your creative side so that you can get started writing words on paper instead of staring at a blank page on a sheet of paper or on your screen.

Fictitious names are labeled to these type of situations from mind blocks to writers block. Whatever you call it the output is the same which is nothing. Nothing from nothing is nothing.

Absolutely nothing productive let alone any type of ideas come into your mind and consequently you are stuck at the moment trying to find a way out of your predicament.Your job is to come up with an idea so that you can start writing words on paper to at least get your pen moving.

Will you be able to come out of it?Basically you will grasp at anything at this point and I would wager that you will take any type of advice that could be given to you.

If you want to know some alternatives or primers to get you going read this rest of this article and you will come up with some basic fundamental steps on how to set yourself up for success.

Step 1. Envision the right tools.

You need to insure that your writing area is for writing only. Make sure that you are in the correct mindset and that you have all the writing tools that you need.

You need to compartmentalize yourself for writing. You need to create a writing ambience and that is accomplished in short by turning off the TV and the radio, unplug your phone and close out your email accounts.

If you set yourself up in your writing area in the first place you will have much more success than in the past.

Not being mentally and physically prepared to write will not give you an advantage when writing. You will need every break in the book in order to be a successful and consistent writer.

Step 2. Mind meld.

This can take many forms. In order to get into the right frame of mind of writing you really have to set your mood.

You can mediate by walking, running, exercising or just by listening to classical music. The whole point here is to relax your mind and body so that you can tune into writing.

Being relaxed and focused will allow meditation to take over so that you can write without any hinderances. Even if it’s for only 5 minutes that you’ve established your writing area, meditation can do wonders to get your creative juices working.

Step 3. Freewrite.

After you have established your writing place and your mind is relaxed and you still are stymied with article ideas then writing about anything that comes to mind will help.

This is called free writing. Writing in this arena has no boundaries for subjects to write about. Write about that trip you’ve been planning or about the weather.

The objective here is to create a link between your brain and your hand that holds the pen to success. Writing freelance about anything that comes to mind will help you release the creativity within you and allow the idea to come out.

Try this little exercise of free writing and this will probably astound you on what subjects may come out. You will write about any subjects that come to mind.

In this exercise you are going to write down the word “computer”. For 5 minutes write complementary words associated with the word computer.

I mean any and all subjects that you can come up that are connected or that you’ve seen on your computer. The pressure of time will allow you to write one word associations quickly and come up with some ideas.

At the end of the 5 minute session go over the subjects and highlight the most relevant subject that you want to write about and you are on you way to beating the writing block blues.

There are eBooks on every niche you can think of and there are many available for free because they are given a free package or by an Internet marketer who wants to drive traffic to their site. But you can use these for writing ideas yourself.

Before I go any further, let me say that you should in no way plagiarize these books or this content. If you’re confused about Internet copyright law, you should take some time to look it up right now. It’s also important to know that taking someone else’s writing and “rewriting” it is still a form of copyright infringement. You’re stealing that author’s ideas.

What I mean instead is that you can use these eBooks to see what’s out there already, what other people have to say about your topics or niche and as fuel for your own ideas. Often I read through these eBooks and I can’t write my ideas down fast enough because they make me think of so many more things I want to add.

Other times I read them and I laugh at how outdated or inaccurate they are. This is another opportunity to write your own articles or books that improve upon what is already out there. Do you have a unique view you can add to a scenario or unique experience in the industry that you can share with others? This is a great opportunity for writing your own content.

One of the biggest excuses people have for not writing or for procrastinating on their writing is that they don’t know what to write about. You can get writing ideas from free eBooks and you won’t have this excuse anymore. All it costs you is a little invested time.
